Development Coordinator and Consulting Executive Director

The Town of Lunenburg engaged Scott to undertake initiatives leading to the repurposing and financial sustainability of the 125 year old National Historic Site Lunenburg Academy which ceased to be a public school in 2012. The Lunenburg Academy Future Use Business Plan, authored by Scott, was adopted by Lunenburg Town Council in April 2015 and six years of implementation followed with $5 million invested to date.  Scott led the strategic and business planning, implementation of interior renovations, new library design and relocation, exterior restoration, tenant recruitment, lease negotiations, and property management.

As the Consulting Executive Director for the Lunenburg Academy Foundation Scott led the board transformation and governance policy development, was the architect of the Next Century Capital Campaign, and visionary project manager for the Heritage Interpretive Classroom.  Scott oversaw strategic and business planning for this not-for-profit registered charity, Bookkeeping, Human Resources, Communications, Fundraising, Media and Government relations.

The Lunenburg Academy Heritage Classroom will be a world class Interpretive Centre for the building, its role in the Town of Lunenburg, and the history of education in Nova Scotia and Canada.  At 95% occupancy, the Academy has been transformed into a thriving community cultural centre and has been completely restored.

Kids Up Front Atlantic

Kids Up Front is a nationally renowned charity that distributes tickets to deserving kids who otherwise would not be able to attend. With more than 1 million tickets distributed nationally over the past 20 years, Kids Up Front is an organization like no other in Canada – providing tickets to hundreds of partner agencies from generous donors. Kids Up Front enriches the lives of kids and their families by giving them experiences to create memories together.

Program Director, artsVest Nova Scotia

Business for the Arts

From 2013 to 2018, the duration of the artsVest Nova Scotia program, Scott played the leading role on behalf of Business for the Arts national office in introducing and promoting this innovative program.  The artsVest Program focuses on training non-for-profits in sponsorship development while providing matching incentive funding.  Scott facilitated province-wide information sessions and worked with over 40 arts, culture, and heritage organizations throughout Nova Scotia, to assist them with accessing new revenue, forging new funding partnerships, and creating models of sustainability.

Highland Arts Theatre, is the future of professional performing arts in Cape Breton and its hometown of Sydney, Nova Scotia.  In four short years this dynamic producer and presenter of quality theatre, music, and dance experienced exponential growth filling a need and desire for high caliber entertainment.

The performing arts can be the heart of what makes a community strong.  Through art that explores our beliefs and values, the performing arts cultivates understanding and forges relationships, bringing together a broad and diverse audience to celebrate the human condition.

Scott was engaged in the year-long process of creating the 2019-2021 Strategic and Business Plans which successfully guided the organization in strengthening its core attributes and attain greater sustainability as it continues to create and share remarkable arts and culture programming, while revitalizing Sydney’s downtown core.

FIN Atlantic International Film Festival

One of Canada’s premier film festivals, FIN Atlantic International Film Festival is an eight-day celebration of film, media and music from around the world. It’s a festival that turns Halifax, Nova Scotia – a charming and historic coastal city – into an international mecca for the arts, abuzz with filmmakers, industry types and film lovers.

Over a four year period Scott Produced the Opening Night Gala held at Rebecca Cohn Auditorium and grew the partnership portfolio by prospecting, attracting and stewarding new partners.
